USDA Announces More Than 3.4 Million Acres Selected for General Signup Conservation Reserve Program

MONTGOMERY, Ala., March 26, 2020 – Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue today announced the acceptance of more than 3.4 million acres in the general Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) signup recently completed, the first general signup enrollments since 2016. County offices will begin notifying producers with accepted offers no later than April 3. 

USDA Establishes New Farm Service Agency Urban County Committees in Boston

County committee members make important decisions on how federal farm programs are administered locally, and this new urban county committee in Boston is part of USDA’s broad support for urban and innovative agriculture.  

Friday Is the Last Day to Schedule an Appointment with Your FSA Office to Compete in CRP General Signup

MONTGOMERY, Ala. February 25, 2020 – Agricultural producers and private landowners interested in the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) 2020 general signup must make an offer of acres or schedule an appointment to do so with their local U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) service center by Friday, February 28.

USDA Designates Two South Dakota Counties as Primary Natural Disaster Areas

This Secretarial natural disaster designation allows the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) to extend much-needed emergency credit to producers recovering from natural disasters through emergency loans. Emergency loans can be used to meet various recovery needs including the replacement of essential items such as equipment or livestock, reorganization of a farming operation or the refinance of certain debts.

USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) loans provide important access to capital to help agricultural producers start or expand their farming operation, purchase equipment and storage structures or meet cash flow needs.
