USDA Reminds Farmers of September 30 Deadline to Update Safety-Net Program Crop Yields

Recent Rule on Payment Limitations and Payment Eligibility Does Not Impact 2020 or 2021 Payments

WASHINGTON, Sept. 25, 2020 – USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) reminds farm owners of the September 30 deadline to update Price Loss Coverage (PLC) program yields for covered commodities on the farm. This is a one-time opportunity for producers to update yields, which are used to calculate 2020 through 2023 payments.  

USDA Announces Availability of Low-Interest Physical Loss Loans for Kentucky Producers Affected by Natural Disasters

Physical loss loans through the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) can help producers repair or replace damaged or destroyed physical property essential to the success of the agricultural operation, including livestock losses. Examples of property commonly affected include essential farm buildings, fixtures to real estate, equipment, livestock, perennial crops, fruit and nut bearing trees, and harvested or stored crops and hay.

USDA Offers Disaster Assistance to Farmers and Livestock Producers in Louisiana Impacted by Hurricane Ida

ALEXANDRIA, La., Sept. 30, 2021 – Louisiana agricultural operations have been significantly impacted by Hurricane Ida and related weather events. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has technical and financial assistance available to help farmers and livestock producers recover. Additionally, agricultural producers in certain Louisiana parishes will have an additional time after the Sept. 30 sales closing date for producers to make coverage adjustments in hardest hit parishes.

USDA Offers Disaster Program Flexibilities for Flood-Impacted Producers in the Northeast

Bangor, ME Aug. 15, 2023 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) and Risk Management Agency (RMA) have authorized policy flexibilities for key disaster assistance programs and crop insurance to aid Northeast agricultural operations that have been significantly impacted by recent flooding in 2023.   

USDA Accepting Proposals for State Acres for Wildlife Enhancement Initiative

Palmer, Alaska, May 11, 2020 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) is now accepting new or modified proposals from state governments for its State Acres for Wildlife Enhancement (SAFE) Initiative. Through SAFE, vital habitat is restored to meet high-priority state wildlife conservation goals. The deadline to submit proposals is June 19.  

USDA Designates 31 New York Counties as Primary Natural Disaster Areas; 8 Pennsylvania Counties as Contiguous

This Secretarial natural disaster designation allows the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) to extend much-needed emergency credit to producers recovering from natural disasters through emergency loans. Emergency loans can be used to meet various recovery needs including the replacement of essential items such as equipment or livestock, reorganization of a farming operation, or to refinance certain debts.
