Deadline to Apply for Physical Disaster Loans Approaching in West Virginia

ATLANTA – The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is reminding businesses, private nonprofit organizations, homeowners and renters in West Viriginia affected by the severe storms, flooding, landslides, and mudslides that occurred Aug. 28-30, 2023 to apply for physical damage disaster loans by April 1 deadline. The disaster declaration covers Boone, Calhoun, Clay, Harrison, and Kanawha counties in West Virginia, which are eligible for both Physical and Economic Injury Disaster Loans from the SBA.

Farm Service Agency Now Accepting Nominations for County Committee Members

Hamilton Square, NJ, June 24, 2021 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) began accepting nominations for county committee members on June 15. Elections will occur in certain Local Administrative Areas (LAA) for these members who make important decisions about how federal farm programs are administered locally. All nomination forms for the 2021 election must be postmarked or received in the local FSA office by Aug. 2, 2021.

USDA Offers Assistance to Help Organic Dairy Producers Cover Increased Costs

Bangor, ME, May 24, 2023 “Maine organic dairy producers have faced significant and unique increases in their marketing costs, compounded by increases in feed and transportation costs and the limited availability of organic grain and forage commodities,” said Sherry Hamel, State Executive Director. “Without assistance, many organic dairies, particularly small organic dairies, will cease production, which not only impacts the domestic supply and consumption of organic milk but also the well-being of many rural communities across the country.
