Laurie Slade Funderburk was appointed by the Biden Administration to serve as the State Executive Director of the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) in South Carolina in October 2021. 

Funderburk was raised on her family’s cattle and tree farm in rural South Carolina, where her family practices land management with the assistance of USDA conservation programs. 

She has over 20 years of legal, business, and insurance experience. She served in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 2004 to 2020. 

Funderburk volunteers with local and statewide organizations that work to improve community health and access to nutrition. 

Prior to her appointment as State Executive Director, Funderburk served as a Board Member for Wholespire (formerly Eat Smart Move More SC) from 2019 to 2021 and served as a HEAL Action Team Leader for LiveWell Kershaw from 2018 
to 2021. Currently, Funderburk serves as a Commissioner for the South Carolina Revolutionary War Sestercentennial Commission, and she serves as the Health and Wellness Committee Chair for Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church in Camden, South Carolina.

Funderburk is a graduate of the University of South Carolina (USC) Honors College and the USC School of Law. 

She resides in Camden, South Carolina, with her husband Bill, a retired South Carolina Administrative Law Judge, and their two sons. In her spare time, 
Funderburk enjoys listening to podcasts, maintaining an active lifestyle, and watching her sons play sports.
