Federal Emergency Management Agency Designates 8 Nebraska Counties as Primary Natural Disaster Areas Due to Severe Winter Storm and Straight-line Winds

This Presidential disaster declaration allows the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) to extend much-needed emergency credit to producers recovering from natural disasters through emergency loans. Emergency loans can be used to meet various recovery needs including the replacement of essential items such as equipment or livestock, reorganization of a farming operation, or to refinance certain debts. FSA will review the loans based on the extent of losses, security available, and repayment ability.

Impacted Area: Nebraska

Triggering Disaster: Severe Winter Storm and Straight-line Winds that occurred during the period of April 6-April 7, 2024.

Application Deadline: January 24, 2025

Primary Counties Eligible: Banner, Cheyenne, Dawes, Garden, Kimball, Morrill, Scotts Bluff, and Sioux


Contiguous Counties Also Eligible:
Nebraska: Arthur, Box Butte, Deuel, Grant, Keith, and Sheridan
Colorado: Logan, Sedgwick, and Weld
South Dakota: Fall River and Oglala Lakota
Wyoming: Goshen, Laramie, and Niobrara
