USDA Announces Availability of Low-Interest Physical Loss Emergency Loans for Producers in 5 Primary Ohio Counties Affected by a Tornado, that occurred on May 7, 2024, with Additional Counties Eligible as Contiguous Counties

Ohio agricultural producers in Auglaize, Butler, Darke, Jefferson and Mercer counties who lost property due to recent natural disasters are eligible for physical loss loans from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA). 

FSA is offering these low-interest emergency loans to producers with a qualifying loss. Approval is limited to applicants who suffered severe physical losses only, including the loss of buildings and livestock. The deadline for producers in designated primary and contiguous counties to apply for loans for physical losses is February 14, 2025.

Impacted Area: Ohio, Indiana and West Virginia.

Triggering Disaster: A tornado that occurred on May 7, 2024.

Application Deadline: February 14, 2025.

Primary Counties Eligible:
Ohio – Auglaize, Butler, Darke, Jefferson and Mercer counties.

Contiguous Counties Also Eligible:
Ohio – Allen, Belmont, Carroll, Columbiana, Hamilton, Hardin, Harrison, Logan, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, Shelby, Van Wert and Warren counties.

Indiana – Adams, Dearborn, Franklin, Jay, Randolph, Union and Wayne counties.

West Virginia – Brooke, Hancock and Ohio counties.

Physical loss loans can help producers repair or replace damaged or destroyed physical property essential to the success of the agricultural operation, including livestock losses. Examples of property commonly affected include essential farm buildings, fixtures to real estate, equipment, livestock, perennial crops, fruit and nut bearing trees, and harvested or stored crops and hay.
