WASHINGTON, Jan. 4, 2022— The Biden Administration recently appointed Sherry Hamel as the new State Executive Director (SED) for the USDA Maine Farm Service Agency (FSA). Hamel joined the Maine FSA team on Jan. 3, 2022.

USDA Designates Two Ohio Counties as Primary Natural Disaster Areas

WASHINGTON, Sept. 8, 2020 - Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue designated two Ohio counties as primary natural disaster areas. Producers in Athens and Hocking counties who suffered losses due to excessive rain and cold temperatures that occurred from April 23 through June 5, 2020, may be eligible for U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) emergency loans.

USDA Announces Flexibilities for Producers Filing ‘Notice of Loss’ for Failed, Prevented Planted Acres

WASHINGTON, D.C., July 2, 2020 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is providing additional flexibilities for producers to file on acres with failed crops or crops that were prevented from planting because of extreme weather events. USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA) is adding these flexibilities for Notice of Loss on both insured and uninsured crops to enable Service Centers to best assist producers. 

USDA Issues First Coronavirus Food Assistance Program Payments

Washington, D.C., June 4, 2020 – U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue today announced the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) has already approved more than $545 million in payments to producers who have applied for the Coronavirus Food Assistance Program.
